First off, I know I am long overdue for a review of Saving Alfea, I'm still working on it. But I just thought I would share my feelings on this new promo for Season 7 that was released today.
I am really excited. I'm kinda getting some feeling of Seasons 1-4. They are clearly once again going with a theme this Season and that is animals. The animals themselves look like they jumped right out of some 80's fantasy cartoons. The villains look like Thundercats rejects. As for Butterlyx, I love it. It's right up there with Believix and Mythix as my favorite transformations.
Also, has anyone noticed a trend
Season 2 - Season 5: Both Seasons heavily focus on Character development as opposed to plot.
Season 3 - Season 6: Both have the fairy's needing to do an individual act of courage in order to earn the new fairy form, and Bloom is the last to earn it in both Seasons. Also, both Seasons have a heavy theme of adventure. (Season 3 was the first time the Winx had traveled to so many different area's. They did intact do more traveling in Seasons 4 and 5.)
Maybe Season 7 will reuse some idea's from Season 4! They already have the magic animals.
Now let's talk about the theme song "Magic all the Way"
I'm really feeling it. I haven't been too crazy about Winx theme song's since Season 4. I will admit that Season 5's song grew on me, but I just can't vibe with the theme song in Season 6 ( although the rest of the songs in that Season are fantastic.)
The song has a bit of a jungle beat to it, which fits giving the theme of the Season.
I even like the lyrics. Even if they are a bit on the childish side. I would also like to point out something. A lot of people are complaining about the show becoming more and more childish. Well in some aspects, that is true. But look at it this way. When we were growing up (I just turned 20) our Cartoons of the 90's and early 2000's did have a bit of maturity to them (As did a lot of 80's Cartoons). Winx Club was no exception. Seasons 1-4 and the first two movies did deal with powerful topics such as death, deceit and self confidence. But the 90's and early 2000's generation is grown up and if they are even still into cartoons, they mostly turn to shows like Korra, Anime or maybe even My Little Pony.
Rainbow needs to make a profit and the age group that grew up with the original Seasons of Winx Club can no longer be depended on to give them that profit. So not only does Rainbow have to appeal to the same age group that they original aimed for, they have to make it stand out for a whole new generation of kids. I have worked with Kids who are the target audience, and trust me, They eat this stuff up like glue (eww). So if making the show a little more on the childish side works, it works!
Now back to working on my Saving Alfea Review!
